I'm Xavier!

I’m a photographer and visual storyteller with a passion for capturing moments in sports and live events. I earned my bachelor’s degree in Media Studies from Old Dominion University and am currently pursuing a master’s degree in Mass Communications at Virginia Commonwealth University. I first discovered my interest in photography and content creation while working as a promotions director at ODU’s radio station. Although I once thought photography was too complicated, the work of photographers around campus inspired me to give it a try.

In the summer of 2023, I borrowed a Canon Rebel T7 from the station and began experimenting with camera settings and editing styles. By November 2023, I joined ODU Athletics as a photography intern, still using that same camera. Despite early challenges and plenty of imperfect shots, I was determined to improve. Through trial and error, guidance from experienced photographers, and a lot of self-learning, I developed my skills and eventually invested in my own gear.

Being able to capture everything from intense, high-pressure moments to the joy of victory and the disappointment of defeat is what made me fall in love with sports photography. Today, I’m focused on sharing those moments and continuing to grow my personal brand. I’m always looking to push my creativity and document the energy and emotion of sports through my lens.
